The Zanskarpa committee
In Zanskar, the local committee sets out to supervise the work of the association on site, to manage the accounting and to ensure harmonious relationships with the local authorities.
The Zanskar committee is composed of trustful people who have a good reputation and who have proved themselves over the years. They are used to the machinery of Indian administration and know well the reality and needs of the locals. They work voluntarily for the project and do not have any political commitments, which meets the requirements set in the local statutes of the school.
The important decisions about the advance of the work are taken in consultation with the administrator, the local committee and the Swiss committee.
As the building of the school came from a demand of the local population, the project enjoys excellent local support. Plus, close ties are maintained with the village of Stongday, near the school, which offered the building plot, and with the local monastery.
